Diagnostics of alcohol drinking problems AUDIT

The Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT), developed by the World Health Organization, is an effective screening tool for identifying hazardous, harmful, and compulsive alcohol use.

The test consists of 10 questions that cover three key areas: hazardous drinking, harmful drinking and addiction. Thanks to the sensitivity and accuracy of around 90%, AUDIT enables a reliable assessment of the alcohol problem. Of course, for the test for recognizing disorders related to alcohol use to be reliable, all questions must be answered completely honestly. Each answer is scored, and the sum of points allows for an assessment of the level of risk.

A high test result indicates a significant probability of alcohol addiction, so it should not be ignored. The test is professional, it is used as a screening test to diagnose addiction.

Harmful Drinking vs. Alcohol Addiction: What's the Difference?

Unhealthy drinking patterns are common to both harmful drinking and alcohol dependence. The key difference is the symptoms of addiction.

Addicted people experience a strong craving for alcohol, as well as withdrawal symptoms, such as muscle tremors, excessive sweating, sleep disorders, anxiety and fears, which subside after drinking alcohol. An important element of addiction is also impaired control over the amount and frequency of drinking - addicts drink more and longer than they intend, they are unable to maintain planned abstinence, despite attempts.

Are you suffering from alcoholism? Do you hear from family, friends, doctors, coworkers that you drink too much? Take the test above, answer the questions honestly, and see if you need help!
